Happy Birthday To Us.
It’s official, SWAD is one today!
What a year it has been! It seems I am an accidental international sex goddess! This has been a year of building connections, and what we thought was going to be a local training organisation has become an international one. We were hoping to make a difference locally and ended up collaborating on local, national and international levels despite launching during a pandemic!
Particular highlights:
- Presenting at the BASHH (British Association of Sexual Health and HIV) Annual Conference
- Co-chairing the Love Abilities International Virtual Festival 2021
- Rediscovering long forgotten skills (it had been 14 years since I had to close down my previous business due to ill health)
- Applying for our first ever grant - and being successful! (Thank you Unltd!)
- Getting comfortable with being a professional training consultant FROM BED!
- Featured in the Get2gether organisation’ s "Becoming Visible" campaign on social media
- "Featured Member" on Enhance the UK's training hub
- Guest on podcasts and live interviews on LinkedIn and Instagram
- Reviewer of educational learning materials around sexuality and relationships for Supported Loving on behalf of Skills for Care
- Presenting at Sexpression UK Annual Conference
- Launched Love Abilities “Nibbles” sessions, monthly zoom sessions on a variety of topics relating to disability and sex. The final half-hour is a community huddle section for people to catch up with friends that have attended the festival, and build new friendships
Some feedback we have received has helped to balance out any inevitable bumps along the way:
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for an excellent session yesterday. It was engaging and so informative. I loved your scenarios and just how much you allowed us to explore answers and let everyone have a chance to voice their views. Thank you!” workshop participant
